چکیده

Landsman, Anna, David Lichtstein, and Asher Ilani. Distinctive features of dietary phosphate supply. J Appl Physiol 99: 1214–1219, 2005. First published May 26, 2005; doi:10.1152/japplphysiol.00095.2005.— Dietary phosphate has profound effects on growth and renal handling of the compound. On the basis of changes in growth rate and food intake, after alterations in phosphate load, our laboratory previously suggested that these effects are mediated by intestinal signals (Landsman A, Lichtstein D, Bacaner M, and Ilani A. Br J Nutr 86: 217–223, 2001). The aim of this study was to further evaluate the role of dietary phosphate on food intake and appetite and specific organ growth, and to test for the presence of a serum factor that may affect renal phosphate handling in phosphate-resupplied rats. The experimental design was based on a comparison between groups of rats receiving identical low-phosphate diets but drinking water containing either phosphate or chloride. We show that 1) changes in food intake after alterations in phosphate load occurred in parallel with variations in digestive system distention, suggesting that dietary phosphate has also a direct effect on appetite; 2) dietary phosphate-dependent growth has a specific effect on the growth of liver and epididymal fat; and 3) serum of rats supplied with phosphate contains a factor that inhibits sodium-dependent phosphate transport in a model of renal proximal tubule cells. Collectively, these observations are in accord with the hypothesis that factor(s) emanating from the digestive system in response to dietary phosphate load may be involved in growth, appetite and renal handling of phosphate.

Objective: Cardiovascular complications are the major cause of reduced lifetime in diabetic patients. Given that physical activity can play an effective role in reducing these complications, the current study was conducted with the aim of examining the effects of 8 weeks of aerobic exercise on some cardiovascular risk factors in women with type 2 diabetes. Materials and Methods: Twenty women w...

Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Eating Plan: Beyond the Hypertension

Background and Objectives: Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) eating pattern, a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy with a reduced content of sodium, saturated fat, and total fat is introduced as an appropriate diet for hypertension. This eating pattern was basically designed to normalize blood pressure in patients with hypertension, and a large body of d...

The Effect of Aerobic Exercise & L-Carnitine Consumption on Diabetes-Induced Apoptosis & Oxidative Stress Factors in Rat

Objective: The use of non-enzymatic antioxidants in the form of dietary supplements has a positive effect on reducing oxidative stress, and preventing apoptosis as they interrupt free radicals. The aim of this study was to investigate the aerobic exercise and L-carnitine consumption impacts on diabetes induced apoptosis, oxidative stress factors, and mitochondrial enzymes in rats. Materials an...

معرفی هورمون ورزش (Irisin)

Introduction: Almost 15% of world populations suffer from obesity. Obesity and insulin resistance are the key pathogenesis risk factors of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and cardiovascular disease. Exercise training can accelerate metabolism and help to prevent the obesity and diabetes through induction of Irisin and triggers conversion of white adipose tissue to brown adipose tissue. Metho...
